The Witches Roots June 2019 – Token of Light

Crystal: Red Tigers Eye
Herb: Calendula
Incense: Lemongrass
Mini Spell Candle: The Golden Glow
Ritual Body Oil: Solar Sight
Other Items: Candle Holder, Solar Plexus Herbal Tea, Sun’s Token Pewter Pendant

My Thoughts
The Witches Roots for June 2019, Token of Light, focuses on one of my favorite flowers: calendula (marigold).

I am happy to see the date included on the bottom of the Token of Light information page (the date is not visible in the image below, I am working on adjusting the code for the image gallery display).

June’s candle, crystal, herb, incense, and oil are all fitting for the celebration of Litha. The affirmation spell candle, The Golden Glow, is dressed with calendula and the included affirmation is perfect for initiating summer solstice rituals.

My pebble of red tigers eye has bands of iron inclusions and the shape reminds me of a talon or a raven’s head. I’ve been seeing the raven quite a bit recently in stones. Odin as well, more recently. This stone has a wonderful energy and I feel it calling to me.

Who doesn’t like calendula? This herb is a workhorse, with multiple culinary and magical uses. A fine example of both is manifested in the Solar Plexus herbal tea (I will review the tea at a later date).

The lemongrass ritual rope incense has a powdery lemongrass aroma – pleasant but not overpowering.

Solar Sight ritual body oil is a blend of fractionated coconut oil, bergamot, chamomile, and lemongrass, with calendula and lemon verbena herbs. Also included are a Lemurian quartz and Horus magickal oil from the Witches Moon’s personal cabinet of witchery. Solar Sight’s essence is airy, clean, and perfect for summer.

The final two components of The Token of Light box are a candle holder and the Sun’s Token pewter pendant. I’ve been looking for a taper candle holder so this is a nice surprise.

The Sun’s Token pewter pendant is weighty but small enough to use as a clothing or Book of Shadows adornment. The inscription reads: “My spirit is strong and shines like the sun”.

June’s box is full of high-quality useful items, as I have come to expect from The Witches Moon’s subscriptions. I look forward to the July box!

The Witches Roots is a monthly subscription containing high-quality items centered around natural herbal witchcraft. The current US price is $29 a month, including shipping.

The Witches Roots March 2019 – The Enchanted Rose

Crystal: None
Herb: Rose
Incense: Amber Sky
Mini Spell Candle: Beauty
Ritual Body Oil: Lucky Love
Other Items: Love Spell Charm Pendant, Rose Quartz Bracelet

My Thoughts
Rose is the featured herb for The Witches Roots March 2019. My apologies for not being more eloquent, I am writing this review three months late and backdating the post for the sake of chronology.

The dried rose is a potpourri of pink, red and cream-colored petals – absolutely enchanting!

There is no crystal for March 2019.

Amber Sky incense has a scent that reminds me of a cross between Nag Champa and baby power. Not entirely bad and somewhat intriguing.

The Beauty mini spell candle is cotton candy pink and unadorned. I truly appreciate receiving unadorned spell candles every now and then so that I have the option to dress them myself.

Lucky Love ritual body oil contains fractionated coconut oil, amber, jasmine, rose, and sweet orange oils. Orange peels, rose petals, a Lemurian quartz, and Enchantment magickal anointing oil from the Witches Moon’s personal cabinet of witchery are also included. The aroma is pleasantly floral with a sweet citrus undertone.

A Love Spell charm pendant and rose quartz bracelet have also been included in The Enchanted Rose.

March’s box is not my favorite offering from The Witches Roots. I do appreciate the quality of the items I received, they just don’t resonate with me personally. To be fair, I never had the desire to focus on love or self-love magic. Maybe I am odd, but I love that about myself!

The Witches Roots January 2019 – Gaia’s Guidance

Crystal: Zebra Jasper
Herb: White Oak Bark
Incense: Spirit of the Woods
Mini Spell Candle: Grounding
Ritual Body Oil: Gaia
Other Items: Earth Goddess Pendant with Chain, Manifestation Acorn Charm

My Thoughts
The January 2019 Witches Roots box is the first in the subscription series. I am excited to begin this new journey at the start of it’s creation.

It seems that the Witches Roots will follow a similar format as the other Witches Moon subscriptions. Included in Gaia’s Guidance is the featured herb, a crystal, incense, candle, and oil.

White Oak Bark is the herb for Gaia’s Guidance, which seems appropriate to start off the subscription series.

January’s stone is Zebra Jasper. My specimen has a shamanic, bark-like pattern, almost like a wooden knot. I like!

Spirit of the Woods Incense doesn’t smell even remotely forest-like to me. The aroma is more floral, almost powdery, and I don’t care for it.

The Grounding mini spell candle is an unadorned earthen brown – an excellent color choice for connecting with Earth.

Gaia Ritual Body Oil is blended with fractionated coconut oil, cedar wood, and jasmine oils. Also included is Gaia magickal oil from the Witches Moon’s personal cabinet of witchery, along with cedar and oak herbs.

Two additional items are included this month: the Earth Goddess pendant with chain and a manifestation acorn charm.

January’s Witches Roots contains a delightful selection of herb-centric goodies. I am curious to see how this box develops over time.

The Witches Roots is a monthly subscription containing high-quality items centered around natural herbal witchcraft. The current US price is $29 a month, including shipping.
