Other Items: Brass Candle Holder, Handmade Book of Shadows with Flower Pressed Paper, Jupiter Tea with Muslin Bag, Parchment Paper

My Thoughts
Images coming soon…

The theme for March’s Witches Moon box is Ascended Guides – Book of Shadows Edition. Three nicely detailed pieces of artwork are included: Ascended Guides, Book of Shadows Inside Cover, and Dedication Book of Shadows pages.

My personalized oracle reading is the Sanat Kumara (light activation) card. I don’t resonate with this card and feel a strong repulsion towards it. Interesting!

A handmade Book of Shadows with flower pressed paper is, appropriately, the featured item this month. The front cover is embossed with winged serpents and the Sacred Oak adorns the back cover. I have to confess that I am always hesitant to start a permanent Book of Shadows, but I think I will go ahead and take a leap of faith with this offering. Instead of using glue on the artwork I plan to use photo corners. Baby steps!

The Token of Wisdom spell candle is crafted from luscious purple beeswax and is enchanted with Spirit Guide magickal anointing oil from the Witches Moon’s personal cabinet of witchery. A matching spell incantation was placed in the box with the paperwork. An extra bonus this month is the inclusion of a spiked brass candle holder.

March’s herbs are dandelion leaf and peppermint leaf. Both herbs make excellent teas!

Speaking of tea, this month’s box includes an aromatic infusion – Jupiter. This blend has a base of green tea, with rose petals, rosemary, safflower, and sage.

The magickal anointing oil, Ascended Masters, has been prepared with chamomile, frankincense, lemongrass, and rosemary oils, with bits of blue cornflower, lemongrass, mugwort, and a Lemurian quartz included in the mixture. Wise Council magickal anointing oil from the Witches Moon’s personal cabinet of witchery has also been added.

Lady of the Lake, March’s sacred salt, has been infused with avocado, basil, eucalyptus, rosemary, and spearmint oils, along with Cerridwen magickal oil from the Witches Moon’s personal cabinet of witchery. Blackberry leaf, eleuthero root, eucalyptus, lemon balm, linden, rosemary, spearmint, and wood betony have been sprinkled amongst the salt crystals, adding to the lovely, complex aroma.

Delightfully, the Nag Champa incense has a pleasant, nostalgic scent. Though I will not burn it, I do enjoy laying a piece on my altar.

This is the second month in a row that a crystal was not included and I hope this is not a permanent trend!

March’s box did not disappoint and I look forward to using the Book of Shadows and artwork.

The Witches Moon is a monthly subscription containing high-quality spiritual items crafted around the seasons. The current US price is $54 a month, including shipping.

Artwork: Belladonna, Datura, Foxglove, Mandrake, and Wolfsbane Book of Shadows Pages
Crystal: None
Herbs: Mandrake Root, Scullcap, Snakebite
Incense: Amidst the Fog
Magickal Anointing Oil: Nurture
Personalized Oracle Reading: Bearberry Strength card from the Hedgewitch Botanical Oracle
Sacred Salt: The Great Giver
Spell Candle: Gift of Gaia
Other Items: Hand-Carved Book Stand, Gilded Hardcover Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs by Scott Cunningham, Parchment Paper

My Thoughts
The Witch of the Woods, February’s Witches Moon, is my first box since having to cancel last summer. Fate was kind to me this round because I could not have chosen a better month to return to The Witches Moon!

Five pieces of beautiful artwork are included for February: Belladonna, Datura, Foxglove, Mandrake, and Wolfsbane Book of Shadows pages. I received an extra copy of Mandrake which I will either set aside for a future giveaway or include for free in one of my custom Books of Shadow.

I’ve heard a few criticisms, and some confusion, regarding the herbs for this month, or rather the exclusion of the herbs correlating with the Book of Shadows pages. These plants are poisonous so I am thankful all were not included. Inexperienced practitioners should not receive toxic herbs or plants, in my opinion, as it is far too easy to make a mistake with handling or useage. Call me old-fashioned (or worse), but dangerous materials have no place in this type of subscription box.

My personalized oracle reading is the Bearberry Strength card. Bear keeps reaching out to me and I will pursue this message in another post.

As I stated above, I chose the right month to subscribe to The Witches Moon again. The Witch of the Woods is an extraordinary botanical collection featuring an exclusive gilded hardcover edition of Scott Cunningham’s Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs. When I was sixteen I purchased a copy of this book and still use it today (it is quite worn by now). I cannot express how delighted I am to receive this special edition!

Accompanying the book is a carved wooden book stand that I’ve decided to use for storing my beeswax candles.

The Gift of Gaia spell candle is crafted from vibrant hunter green beeswax and is dressed with Earth Elixir magickal anointing oil from the Witches Moon’s personal cabinet of witchery. A spell incantation, Gift of Gaia, is included in the box.

Mandrake Root, Scullcap, and Snakebite (plantain) are the featured herbs, in honor of Scott Cunningham. Please note that Mandrake is poisonous and should not be consumed.

Nurture, February’s magickal anointing oil, has been prepared with almond, cedarwood, chamomile, and green tea oils, with bits of chamomile, lavender, green tea leaves, and a Lemurian quartz included in the mixture. Within the Grove magickal anointing oil from the Witches Moon’s personal cabinet of witchery has also been added. Nurture has a crisp, sweet fragrance – almond is predominant, with a hint of apples and enticing herbs.

February’s sacred salt, The Great Giver, has been blended with cedarwood, sandalwood, and white tea oils, with inclusions of oak, poppy, scullcap, and willow. Grounded Goddess magickal anointing oil from the Witches Moon’s personal cabinet of witchery has also been included. The Great Giver sacred salt has a strong white tea aroma with undertones of floral essences and wood. I am not sure if I prefer the old jars to the new bags, but either can be reused. Make sure to open the bags from the very top by pulling the front and back apart, rather than tearing at the notch. This makes it much easier to open and easier to reuse!

The Amidst the Fog incense has a powdery and soapy aroma which I do not care for (yes, I know, I am not a fan of incense).

February’s box does not contain a crystal.

I am thoroughly delighted with the selection of items curated for Witch of the Woods. The special edition of the Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs is now the jewel of my book collection – something I truly appreciate and treasure.

It is hard to imagine how The Witches Moon could outdo themselves after this, but I look forward to receiving the March box!

Artwork: Angel Aura Quartz Goddess Book of Shadows Page
Crystal: Angel Aura
Incense: Forest Mist
Magickal Anointing Oil: Expansion
Mini Spell Candle: Clarity and Vitality
Pendant: Angel Aura Quartz with Pink Tourmaline
Other Items: Pendant Cord

My Thoughts
July’s Witches Bounty is one of my favorite curations to date. Angel Aura Quartz Goddess is the featured Book of Shadows Page and the artwork is divine. I love the background on the page, and while I typically do not resonate with angels, the goddess is beautifully rendered.

The crisp white intention-setting spell candle, for clarity and vitality, is dressed with a light dusting of glitter. The clean and pure energy is most welcome, in contrast to the Forest Mist incense, which has an overwhelming, cologne-like aroma that I do not care for.

Expansion magickal anointing oil has been prepared with rose, rosemary, and ylang ylang oils, with inclusions of rose, rosemary, mugwort, and a Lemurian quartz. Celestial Being magickal anointing oil from the Witches Moon’s personal cabinet of witchery has also been added. Expansion has an earthy, yet sweet, powdery aroma.

This month’s sublime centerpiece is an angel aura quartz pendant with pink tourmaline. My pendant is a mesmerizing spiderweb of swirling rainbows and reflections. I am truly awestruck at the beauty of this hefty jewel. The sterling silver setting has a pink tourmaline set into the bail and scrollwork on the back side.

A matching angel aura quartz crystal is included in The Open Gate’s offerings. My specimen is rather small, but lovely nonetheless.

Angel aura quartz is a gorgeous stone, and this pendant did not disappoint, which makes it even harder to say that the July box will be my last Witches Bounty. I have enjoyed receiving these pendants, and reviewing them, but cancer is not cheap and I have quite a few bills to pay. Thank you, The Witches Bounty, for an amazing 11 months of sacred adornments!

Artwork: Stag Moon/July Esbat & Full Moon and Cleansing Mantra Book of Shadows Pages
Crystal: Sodalite
Herbs: Elf Leaf, Ground Sage, Hyssop
Incense: Clarity
Magickal Anointing Oil: Banish
Personalized Oracle Reading: The Blessing of Meditation card from Namaste: Blessing & Divination Cards
Sacred Salt: Consecrate
Spell Candle: The Silencing
Other Items: Hand-Carved Tripod Pedestal, Rosemary Sage Bundle, Spiny Oyster Shell, The Three Rays of Witchcraft Pewter Pendant with Chain, Ritual Book of Shadows Paper

My Thoughts
The Clearing, June’s Witches Moon, provides several tools useful for any practice. Two pieces of beautiful artwork are included this month: the Stag Moon/July Esbat & Full Moon and Cleansing Mantra Book of Shadows pages.

My personalized oracle reading is The Blessing of Meditation card.

A spiny oyster shell and hand-carved tripod pedestal are the spotlight items for The Clearing. Words cannot describe how much I love the shell I received. It is crusty with the ocean’s touch and beautifully organic. The photos show an orange tinge, while in actuality the shell has a more pinkish hue. The hand-carved tripod is a most welcomed addition as well – I’ve always meant to purchase one and never got around to it. Prickly is one way to describe the rosemary sage bundle, which smells wonderful. Prickly herbs and spiny shells are a perfect match!

The Three Rays of Witchcraft pewter pendant, designed by Christopher Penczak, represents Love, Wisdom, and Power. On the back of the pendant is the sacred symbol of The Temple of Witchcraft.

The Silencing spell candle is crafted from serene white beeswax and is dressed with rosemary buds and Clearing magick spray from the Witches Moon’s personal cabinet of witchery. I feel a strong, calming energy radiating from this candle. I noticed that the spell scroll for The Silencing has been wrapped around the candle in the opposite direction from how it is usually placed.

Sodalite is this month’s crystal and the slab I received is quite large (about the size of my palm) and mostly flat – it will make a charming miniature altar or crystal grid.

Elf Leaf (rosemary), hyssop, and ground sage are the featured herbs.

Banish magickal anointing oil has been prepared with rosemary, spearmint, and ylang ylang oils, with inclusions of ground sage, rosemary, spearmint, and a Lemurian quartz. Be Gone magickal anointing oil from the Witches Moon’s personal cabinet of witchery has also been added. Banish has a robust fragrance – minty and herbal, with a faint whisper of sweetness.

June’s sacred salt, Consecrate, has been infused with cyprus, frankincense, and myrrh oils, along with Aura Cleansing magickal oil from the Witches Moon’s personal cabinet of witchery. Eucalyptus and ground sage have been sprinkled amongst the salt crystals, adding to the earthy, herbal scent.

Surprisingly, to me, the Clarity incense has an uplifting citrus aroma and is not too strong. I placed the bundle of incense on my altar and have been enjoying the unlit essence while I write this review.

I always enjoy receiving tools I can use and I am delighted The Clearing will be a productive box for me.

The Witches Bounty June 2019 – Golden Attraction

Artwork: Golden Druzy Goddess Book of Shadows Page
Crystal: Citrine Point
Incense: Nag Champa
Magickal Anointing Oil: Sun’s Eye
Mini Spell Candle: Pot of Gold
Pendant: 24k Gold Plated Desert Druzy
Other Items: Pendant Cord

My Thoughts
Golden Attraction, the June 2019 Witches Bounty, is a delightful surprise. I was not sure what to expect when I read that the pendant was a golden desert druzy, but The Witches Bounty far exceeded my hopes!

The Golden Druzy Goddess Book of Shadows page is one of my favorites. The Goddess is calm, cool, and collected – absolutely divine. A general date has been added to the artwork, and the month and year have been added to the information page. Thank you!

I received an extra copy of the Golden Druzy Goddess Book of Shadows page and would like to give it away. The first person to contact me wins this extra copy (please let me know that you are contacting me about the artwork giveaway). Sorry, but I must limit this to the United States only. The artwork will ship via USPS with the original backer board and clear overwrap. Please note that this is a gift and is not meant to be resold.

The Pot of Gold mini spell candle is a feast for the eyes. Rolled with jade green beeswax and dressed in an abundance of gold glitter, this candle is stunning and reminds me of jade drenched in golden honeycomb. There’s an idea for a pendant!

Sun’s Eye, June’s magickal anointing oil, has a base of sunflower oil blended with oils of chamomile, sweet orange, and tangerine. Also included is Acta Non Verba magickal oil from the Witches Moon’s personal cabinet of witchery. Gold flakes, lemongrass, lemon peel, and a Lemurian quartz float captivatingly in the glass bottle. Sun’s Eye has a crisp, citrusy aroma with a hint of a fragrance I cannot quite identify.

Nag Champa incense is featured this month. It has a delicate, yet exquisite, flora fragrance with a subtle spicy undertone. Nag Champa reminds me of the special little soaps my mother would give us for the holidays – happy memories!

My pictures don’t do the citrine point justice – there is a fire within that I cannot properly capture on camera. This specimen might be small, but it is high-quality and I love it. Upon reviewing the images below the citrine looks like a crystalline candy corn!

The 24k gold plated desert druzy pendant is, as I stated earlier, a pleasant surprise for me. A beautiful velvety shimmer coats the surface and sparkles enchantingly in the light. Depending on the angle of view, the colors range from soft mustard to glittering gold. The pendant is set in sterling silver and has lovely scrollwork on the back.

June’s box delivered a bounty of bling and I cannot wait to see what has been curated for July!

The Witches Moon February 2020 – Witch of the Woods

The Witches Bounty July 2019 – The Open Gate

The Witches Moon June 2019 – The Clearing

June 14, 2019
